What do you think about Scandinavian opening (with black)?

Not the variation 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5, but 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6.

And mods, please not put this in Chess openings! I would like to discuss this there.

Scandi is not my choice of opening.

I do play the scandinavian but not Nf6. Though I do think it is a good option.

chessterd5

both are playable. both have pros and cons.

Also after 2..Nf6 3.Qxd5 d4 it is the same position after 2..Qxd5 3.d4 Nf6.

Not, because in the second (better) position, white hasn't the b1 knight. That knight is very important, because now white can't threat black's queen.

Nc3 by white in the Qxd5 line is a pseudo threat. particularly, if the Queen moves to a5.

No it is the same position:

But it doesn't mean that they would play 3.d4 they could also play Nf3 or Nc3.

But #9, I would recapture with my knight.

Yeah I just thought that Qxd5 is a little better because it developes another piece. But also both are book moves so they are both ok.

chessterd5

either capture is reasonable.

The modern Scandinavian happens to be one of my pet openings for speed chess. It is certainly subpar in standard time controls, but even the main line 3.d4 transposing into the normal Scandi is playable.

I accidentally started my account at the beginner elo and worked my way up through the rapid pool mainly playing the modern scandi against 1e4. During my playthrough, I've noticed that the most challenging line 3d4 is by far the rarest at lower elo. More likely is the 3c4 or 3Nc3 defending the gambited pawn. Though somewhat dubious, i've had monumental success with ...3e6 after 3c4-the icelandic-palme gambit. If 3Nc3, the most straightfoward way to play is captures and then to pin the knight on f3.

try it out

I think scandinavian iş the best opening for black because when your openent didn't know İt, you absolutely win.
