What do you think the next chess boom will be?

We had the pandemic, the Queens Gambit, mittens, what next?

I foresee quantum computing will give new universe to chess. Companies like Google and IBM might compete with each other's quantum technology through chess, like how car manufacturers compete through racing.

PromisingPawns

Idk honestly I have no idea 😂

When Frank becomes a GM

I don't have any doubts about it. It will be Classical Fischer-Random. The upcoming event next year will be the first in history it seems. Magnus Carlsen may even get the spark started where he will play real chess at serious time controls again instead of wasting the rest of his career playing skittles online. If Bobby Fischer came back from the dead this is the one event where Carlsen would have no computer advantage. Just pure chess skill. I might add that this may even bring back Judit Polgar and other older elite players who can no longer compete because of having to memorize hundreds of lines in the opening.

No idea, but it will go completely unnoticed by nearly everyone on the planet

then its gonna be chip fights, I believe inserting chips wont give us infinite computing power, it will still need power (raw energy) to operate.

calculating a 35 move depth checkmate might cost you a few dinner wink.png

We can be the next boom in chess.

We can "evangelize" chess.

I already donated a Xiangqi set and a Go set to the local library. The quality kind, the kind I would give to myself. Not a Pressman chess set. They already have a chess set.

I once stayed in a Marriott hotel. I opened the desk drawer, and there was the Bible! Just as I've heard about. Incredible! A Bible in every hotel room.

We should donate a Chess, Xiangqi, or Go set to every hotel in the world, the quality sets that we ourselves own.

I don't why hotels didn't think of this up themselves.

Chess, but the hotel manager can add, change, or remove one rule.

It existed historically.

"House rules".

It took time for chess rules to converge.
