Idk honestly I have no idea 😂
What do you think the next chess boom will be
I don't have any doubts about it. It will be Classical Fischer-Random. The upcoming event next year will be the first in history it seems. Magnus Carlsen may even get the spark started where he will play real chess at serious time controls again instead of wasting the rest of his career playing skittles online. If Bobby Fischer came back from the dead this is the one event where Carlsen would have no computer advantage. Just pure chess skill. I might add that this may even bring back Judit Polgar and other older elite players who can no longer compete because of having to memorize hundreds of lines in the opening.

Chess is going to be dead in a couple of ten years...Once chips can be inserted in human brain its over.
Have fun playing while you still can.

then its gonna be chip fights, I believe inserting chips wont give us infinite computing power, it will still need power (raw energy) to operate.
calculating a 35 move depth checkmate might cost you a few dinner ![]()
This is what I hope. And it makes sense.
Chess as a tri-athlon.
1 game of Chess.
1 game of Xiangqi.
1 game of Backgammon for a tie breaker.
It has all the elements. An alternative chess and randomness. Everything everybody wants Chess to be.
probably chess gambling
1. Chess was invented in India.
2. Gambling was invented in China. Cards, dice, dominoes, etc.
Chess and gambling have been existing side by side for thousands of years.
Like oil and water, they don't mix.
They don't mix because there are no chance in chess. People don't bet on games of skills (themselves. They would bet as spectators).
They have not mixed for thousands of years.
probably chess gambling
Games of skill are not conducive to gambling, because you know who will win.
Once upon a time there is a thing called pool hustling.
Made famous by the novel and the movie The Hustler.
Pool hustling is a dead art. It is a relic of a bygone era.
With televised pool competitions, the art of hustling beginners died out.
This is what I hope. And it makes sense.

Here at the advantages.
1. I already mentioned. 2 versions of chess and chance.
2. Only 3 games to decide a championship. Short and sweet. It csn be played in reasonable time, as a recreational player plays. 1 hour on the clock. Only a maximal 6 hours determine a winner.
3. You don't have to invent another game, Fischer Random Chess or any new form of chess. You can play the games as they have been played for centuries.
4. It will bring players from all 3 games. It's the the MMA of chess.
5. Backgammon was invented in Egypt. (It's predecessor Senet is on a mural with Nefertari playing it. That's great for Black history month.) And we already have India, Europe and China.
6. I can't think of more at the moment, but I'm sure someone else will
What will not be a boom is a new version of chess, however clever.
I have my clever version too, Decoy Roy. 2 Kings, one real, one fake.
IED chess. 1 square is mined.
However clever, I don't see any new form of chess taking off.
What do you think the next chess boom will be?
We had the pandemic, the Queens Gambit, mittens, what next?
