Functionally: It makes your rating go up and down faster. A game might be worth 100 points instead of 10.
Conceptually: It's a measure of how uncertain the system is about your rating. New accounts and accounts that haven't been active in a long time have a high RD, so their rating changes faster.
The more often you play, the lower your RD will be.
it doesnt show it anymore on the profile ?
