The only thing I dislike about Lucas Chess is the lack of documentation. Also, I think the menu structure is a bit disorganized, but I can manage.
I noticed that I had to set the sound option twice. Once in the main "Options --> Custom sounds", and a second time when it pulls up a board to play the game... ("Config --> Sounds --> Sound on...yada yada yada").
You probably didn't notice the second sound setting.

OH! crap... I'll check on that: that's a stupid way to program a chess software. Thanks.

hey! I tried to program the sounds on the game: it doesn't work. NO sound: prograam is completely corrupt
I think you should give lucas chess a try. I think this is great program for training and playing.
There are sound options. Don't you know how to dig through menus?
Options --> Custom Sounds
I don't think it supplies wav files for sound, but almost any PC has them if you've installed any chess software to speak of. Even just picking Windows wav files would work.
