What is consider a good rating on the site. Well, I think if you are rated above 1800 then you are a good chess player. If you are rated 1500-1799 then you are average. What do you think?

Wow, I think this is one of the oldest threads on chess.com. Well , now if you have rating of 1800 its considered as very good and is in top 2% of the players playing here.

Jeeze, people. Don't be so lazy.

Go to your profile. Click on "Rapid". Click on "Full Stats".

That will tell you what percentile you are in.

In your case, it's the 95th percentile.

Ya, I know that but I am asking that on "other sites" even 1800 is 80%. So, ya I know if you see 95 percentile is very good but whats the comparision to FIDE ratings?

blueemu

There isn't any comparison to FIDE ratings.

A rating is specific to the pool of players being rated.

It only compares you to other players in the same rating pool.

Why Is why I have had 3 accounts over 2000 on lichess but can hardly stay above 1600 here.

blueemu

What rating do they start you at on that site?

Steven-ODonoghue

1500

Steven-ODonoghue

Whereas here most people start at 1200 or 800

blueemu

That might bias the ratings. More points being pumped into the system.

I heard that site compensates the lag, meaning you don't lose that many fractions of seconds. It feels like having some 20 or 30 seconds more in a 3 minutes game with 40 moves.

My performance on the "other site" is not so good. Ya, IDK why most of the people over there are 2000. People of 1200 FIDE AND 1700 FIDE are also having almost the same ratings but OTB , one of them plays much better. The problem is that the rating over there is so stable. I dont like that system. 2000 over there is a very good rating [1700 on here I guess (equivalent to)] but why the percentile is still hardly 85%?

Ratings are BS when playing online. There are too many cheats

Not in 30 sec bullet

While playing bullet, most of the time everyone tryna wins on time and a lot of blunders there. Nothing much to learn. I like playing classic.

Thats why bullet on chess.com isn't as good as on "another site" . it is too easy to win on time in a completely lost position because premoves consume 0.1 seconds. On "another site", if you are completely winning it doesn't matter what time is on your clock you will win the game.

I think the moderators are gonna be angry. They will edit the posts and may be delete also. Its better to write "another site" instead of the name of the other site.
