There is no "good" rating, you have to go with what your actual rating is and try to improve
3000 and under is beginner level

The average rating posted on this website is around 1000! I'm not sure where you guys got the 1301. Go check it out for yourself! I have a rating of 1250 and I'm close to the top 20%.

Some people say the minimum rating for a good player is 2000
at LEAST 2400

When I fell below 2000 playing blitz this afternoon, I felt that my rating was no longer any good. But, in fact, I usually get over 2000 a few times per year and never for very long. So, a good rating would be over 2100. That would give me the cushion to absorb a losing streak.

@Ziryab. When you get to 2100 you’ll be sad if you fall below it. If you get to 2200, the same.
