Personal preference. Ive always turned my knights inwards since I was a kid similar to Kasparov, Carlsen does the same. Anand points his knights forward. Do what thou wilt.

That's how they look on diagrams and computers. I personally don't pay attention to that when playing OTB.
When playing OTB Blitz, I turn both Knights onwards. I know where they started.

I point my Knights exactly at the pieces they're each capturing first, but often Black's b and g pawns obscure his Rooks.
