it has to be an official opening/defense.

MEXIMARTINI

Why is that not official?  Or, what is considered official?

It has to have a name/ be in the Modern Chess Openings book.

Throwing the Knights out first DOES have a name, silly!

It's the Mexican Defense, also known as the Two Knights Tango.  It's ECO Code A50.

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 Nc6.  You've "thrown the knights out" to start the game!

And the question is stupid.  Why would an opening have a name with some level of popularity at the top levels if it's the Worst opening?

Author of post 7 is a total clown!  The French is NOT the worst opening.  That would be like me saying the Sicilian Dragon is the worst opening simply because I hate playing it.  Use your brain you stupid clown!  I don't go around saying the Dragon is the worst simply because I don't play it.  Any clown that thinks the French is the worst opening to play is dumber than the clown running our country!

Well damn.  I like that defense and I didn’t even know the name!   I do have a question, why start a game defensively?

I mean, when I drive my car I drive defensively because there are a lot of morons driving, but in a chess game?  Help me out here.  What are the advantages?

I see your ability to debate is limited to logical fallacies, specifically ad hominem attacks.  With such a limited reasoning capability, I would not expect sarcasm to be comprehended.  But, in a bit of humorous situational irony, you insult the intelligence of others while displaying your lack thereof (par for the course for Giants' fans).

Well, what can you expect? This is ThrillerFan.

I agree : )

Wait a second!  So there is no Mexican defense?!?

pawnintheirgame29

I think the Damiano Defense is definitely up there as one of the worst openings you can play. Here it is along with a way to defeat it.

we have a winner! happy.png

King's gambit for white and Scandinavian for black....I love when opponent plays them because I know the defenses for both and usually win as the opposite color by playing positional defense and winning with extra pawn in the end....although they both can be very dangerous if you don't know how to defend them....

I know 1.e4 e5 2.Qh5 is an easy forced loss for White, as any patzer who has read a single page of opening principles and has never studied any specific openings already knows.

How is it a forced loss? I understand that it is less than ideal for White, but I would not consider it outright losing. Black is ahead 0.29, but this is still not losing.

actually Hikaru Nakamura played this in blitz numerous times.....he is really good at this opening, a true genius.
