what is the definition of a ''good sport'' according to chess.com's unwritten constitution?

Not really helpful as the reason for my question is the fairly new addition to my chess games page asking if my opponent has been a good sport ? None of the above points have I ever encountered - have you?

For instance how could I know if a player has opened more than one account (remember I am being asked if my opponent is a good sport?)

How could I know if my opponent discusses illegal activities or posted inappropriate content - the same applies to most of the other points. I think you misunderstood the context of my question, which is why would chess.com ask me if someone I might play only once or at most occasionally this question. Surely there is a better use of the limited space on my playing page?

I thank you for your attempt to answer the question.

A good sport is someone who offers you a draw in a dead drawn position where no-one can make progress, rather than trying to win on time. But I long since came to the conclusion that that kind of sportsmanship isn't the norm here. Occasionally I block people if it's really flagrant and it annoys me .... in the hope that blocking means I don't get to play them again. I've no idea if that's the case, though.

Bad sportsmanship is what is obvious, not good sportsmanship, so it's a bit of a stupid question. Others have said that too.

On the other hand, overly nice behavior seems fishy too. Like, is that guy having a bad conscience and trying to compensate?? Or is he trying to distract you whilst continuously praising your good looks in the chat? Never happened to me, personally, just food for thought ... 🤔

I've seen others post that Chess.com asks if the opponent has been a good sport. I've yet to see this question. It does seem like an odd question, and as you say, how would you know? But, if I had to guess, I'd say in your "gut" you would have a feeling based on how the game progressed. Did your opponent do things that offended you and often? If so, I'd guess you'd feel Not a good sport and answer that way. Otherwise, perhaps you're left wondering as you are now.

But either way, it seems to be a very, very subjective question. Because, as you say, how would you know? And perhaps what seems bad form to you would not to someone else, and vice versa. So how accurate is the answer? Maybe as RonaldJ suggests, large numbers provide enough information?
