what is the hardest rating to overcome?

2100 bullet was tough. I hit 2000 about 6 months ago, but didn't reach 2100 until a few weeks ago.
After that it was easy though, got another 500+ points (up to 2680) in a couple days, crushing GMs with ease. I just decided one day to start playing better, and then did it.

For me, it was getting past USCF C class. I thought i was better than i was, and this should be easy. Learned one of my most important lessons to improvement.
Play the board, not the rating.
Forget rating, play chess. My first OTB game on my first tournament i played without knowing opponent rating. After i won estimated him around 1500, He was 1860. Next round same thing. I got good strong attack but i failed. I though he was 1800, he was 2090. 3rd round i knew my opponent rating of 1820. I played carefull.. got nervous and he beat me , i played worse than 2 games before..

Agreed. I like tournaments where they dont show the rating on the pairing sheet. When my opponent asks what my rating is (scoresheet purposes) I tell them i dont know.

I had the most trouble with 1300 chess.com blitz. I decided to pay more attention to my opponents moves one day and boom, 1600.

It wasn't easy, but brute force studying got of books and master games got me to 1800. After that, though, it didn't work. I put in 4x the amount of time and effort as I took to get to 1800 ... and remained at 1800. Years passed, nothing changed, and I assumed I had reached my chess potential.
I then happened to stumble upon Igor Smirnov's youtube page, watched a few videos, bought his courses and I got over 2000. I still had to put work in, but compared to my previous stagnation, it wasn't bad. Still, I needed a coach to break 1800, so that's why I consider it my biggest/hardest roadbump.

OMG, you are the same guy i played with you in last year, I saw it in my profile. At that time, ur rating was 1899 and I was 2000. I am now 2100+. It seemed to me that I can follow your foot path. LOL.

2800, since only a handful of players have ever done it.
By that logic it's 2900+ since nobody has ever done it. I think you misunderstood the question. (although admittedly the title is badly worded)

Actually the hardest rating to overcome is - infinity.
Wait - shouldn't it be infinity plus a hundred?
Make that two hundred.

I was frustrated at 1600 because it seemed like I wouldn't improve anymore.
Then one day I did.
Just keep learning stuff and practicing.

1500 was my USCF plateau for years...then I studied just a little every day and it went up to 1647....I'm talking over the board/classical 30 minutes or more each though.

In like 3 Months I went from 600 and something to 1150 ish in standard 30 Min, then I went down again and up and down... I've been a 1150ish for around huh, like a year! I was at a very hard stage in my life and it was difficult to function... thankfully just yesterday I became for the first time a 1200ish, Wish Me Luck.
