no 8 bc mittens played hikaru who played magnus
What is your Morphy Number, and from whom did you inherit it?

Seven at most. I (7) played my friend @electrosaw (6), who played Magnus in blitz (5), who has played Korchnoi before (4), who has played Botvinnik (3), who has played Tartakower (2), who played Mortimer (1), who finally played Morphy (0).

Mine is also 5. I beat at the time FM Valeri Lilov (once in a daily game and a few times in simuls) who either drew with or beat Topalov in a simul. Topalov's number is 4 according to wiki.
wow! i remember when you were in the 1600's (because we were in rss). your improvement is very impressive. nice going.
(sorry, blueman. if a have a morphy number, it is likely so far out it resembles the string of numbers for pi)
Correction: mine is 4.
I lost a competition game to Sammy Rubinstein, who in a training match played his father Akiba Rubinstein, a 2.

Thanks Al.
I'm not sure if Morphy is the "best-known chess master in history" (aside from American chess history of course), but he's certainly one of the best; and much less controversial than that OTHER famous/infamous American chess master icon. (Fischer)

Idk my fischer number
my griffpatch number (being followed by griffpatch on scratch.mit.edu) is 3
griffpatch follows chipm0nk
chipm0nk follows nini2009ph

You got your MN from Rubinsteins son? That's crazy. I got mine from a bot.
7, which I inherited from Mittens, who played Hikaru.
..Right?
