It mirrors the struggle of life.  It is too complex to be "solved," so it will always be challenging.  Players continually create concepts that awe the mind.

Chess = truth to me. You can blag your way through a lot of life if you are so inclined, but you can't blag the brutal logic of the chessboard...

I think that the beauty of chess is in its ability to facilitate a conversation between two intelligent minds who can be a world apart.

I think it's beautiful because chess, in of itself, can be interpreted in many ways.  A war, a battle, simple board game, IQ test* (I understand the debate and stigma that comes with).

I love and am in awe at how the game is so deep.  No matter the level of skill there is always so much more to learn and improve on.  Idea being 1200 is to GM as GM is to "solved."  That, to me, is what's beautiful.

To me, the beautiful thing about chess is that it's all up to you.  There's no luck involved.  For example, I have always hated games where you can be doomed from the start by drawing bad cards.

Remembering Carlsen's interview, I want to quote him, altough I didn't memorise his words so I will try to get his point across with my own words.

Chess is an art, a science and a sport. It's art when you perform a beautiful combination. It's science when you experiment with moves and it's a sport because you need to be in a good physical condition.

Personally, I think this makes chess beautiful.

I don't know what you are saying in the second paragraph of your post, but the point you make in the first paragraph is a great point and eloquently said. Its also possible to interpret the game as a collaborative effort between two players to play a perfect game.
