This is the first time this has happened but...

What do you do when you get to a point during middle game where you seriously cannot think of a move to make next that you feel comfortable with.  I have studied the board for over 2 hours and I am not comfortable with anything I have available.

Im only down 1 point so its not a problems with being behind either materially or posistionaly but I am honestly at a stand still.

I don't believe we are allowed to help you unless the game is over already.

I think as long as we're not looking at the game and analysing it, and just giving him psychological advice, thats ok. Because really, then you'd have to finish all your games before you could get some help...

I often have these sorts of problems in my games. What you have to do is look at all the points of the position- where is he weakest? How is his king doing? Then make a plan involving these points. Then all you have to do is figure out the best way to achieve the plan.

It gets easier as you do it more often. If you cant see any weaknesses, just a general developing or advancement move which improves your piece positioning slightly would suffice.

My bad.  It wasn't my intention to get help with a particular game.  I would never want help during a game as I am not a cheater.  I was just asking a question for general knowledge purposes.

What I like to do is use the analysis board and just start different strings of moves and exchanges all over the board, no matter how obsurd they may appear at first and when one seems interesting I'll start disecting it.  Sometimes this works to uncover a hidden gem.
