I'm not an opening expert -- just wanted to throw out there that if you're looking for more quiet/positional positions that white can force the french into some wild positions... if you're going to follow book lines anyway. Maybe consider the caro.
And of course not all kingside openings are tactical. One of the major drawbacks to 1.e4 at the top level is the drawing weapons of the petroff and the berlin. Of course it's white who chooses this path so you can't take advantage of this from the persepctive of the black pieces.
Some 1.d4 openings can lead to crazy attacks too, but I'm not as familiar with their names.
Hello this is just a general opening question if your an opening expert. I just wanted to know what type of openings are these. :Are they tactical,positional etc. please your suggestions on these openings
For white:
1.Colle system
2.Queens gambit
For black:
1.French defense
2.Slav defense
Or is it that all kingside openings are tactical and all queenside openings are positional or other? please this info could really help me with something.
