What will be the impact of chess being solved?

Chess is solved in the sense that we know with best play by both sides-the game is a draw.
There are certain openings where with best play by both sides one side will win.

My engine analysis concurs, but I can't play well enough to make it happen. The lines are too tedious, ambiguous and don't seem to have a clear strategy. If I didn't know they tried for a tactical advantage, I'd be lost even more so.

Spice, whoever, wrote that article does not know what he is talking about.

Spice, Ponz is right as it pertains to certain openings/defenses being played. I have seen both sides win, but often it is a draw when an engine plays it's moves.

As some poor sap found who failed to do so and who is a bit deficient in some other ways....had his "cruel" prank quickly turned around him at work by me, because I try to do what my english teacher taught me. You should be proud. If you are to post modern to be proud, why the hell do you get up and go to work in the first place ?

Chess will not be solved. Not within the next 20, 30 years. At present there is only 7 piece EGTB and it needs more than 1 Terabytes of space. For chess to be considered solved, it requires 16 piece tablebases.

Of course it depends on what you mean by "solve chess" almost all masters or above know the game is a draw. But maybe impossible to prove as some have said there are as many possible moves in a chess game as there are atoms in the universe...

if i only had the option of playing against a computer, i would quit playing chess... the game would have zero appeal to me..
what makes chess interesting to me are the interesting people i've played with, without them there is nothing to share, if fabulous combinations and chess wizardry was the domain of computers then i couldn't care less
computers and crackers are the side of chess that could make me quit
Are you able to decode the personality merely from the game? I don't normally end up in stimulating conversation during games. I usually only play online too. I would try to keep it short in live chess.
I do really enjoy good conversation in OTB games... I would try to this in online games too but, I have had many people tell me they don't like to talk to me because, I think too much... I used to think that I thought too much, but I rethought it and realized some people enjoy being mental midgets...
I think you think people think you think alot because you think people think you think too much
And I'm thinkin' ... while I'm thinkin'
haha!! And many don't have different expectations for Christmas Day!
