Angry? Nothing in chess makes me angry.
hummm. doubtfull
Im 56...I have grown past that stage of my life where a game makes me angry.
WOW! I would never have guessed that! You've got me beat. I'll be 45 in 3 1/2 weeks. I'm surprised the 12-year old (he can't be any older that that given his immaturity) nit-wit hasn't "Partial Quoted" you yet here!
And actually, I can say something that does get me angry at Over The Board tournaments. Irresponsible Directors! Have you ever faced someone under 10? They don't behave worth anything at over the board events! Their parents hand them food during the rounds (that's already a problem), and in one case, I was facing this kid that couldn't be more than 8 or 9 years old, and his parents give him a bag of it was either kettle chips or kettle corn. Have you ever eaten kettle cooked chips? They are VERY loud when you eat them! My opponent is eating them at the table, and especially during my turn. Let's also keep in mind this kid is 8 or 9 years old. He is chewing with his freaking mouth open! COME ON! I get the director, who is light years away because god forbid they stay in the tournament hall, and all he did was tell the kid to eat it away from the table. What does the idiot do? Keeps eating at the table. I complain again, and they basically say they won't do anything. I came very close to creating a scene and outright confiscating the bag and throwing it in the trash! I didn't (wish I did).
How can you be that freaking lazy of a director to not be in the tournament hall? And this was at a tournament where there were many directors! Continental Class Championship in Washington DC, don't recall if it was 2010 or 2011 - was at both. That's ran by the CCA - same group that runs the World Open, Chicago Open, etc.
So yes, I have been angry before. You want annoyed? How about in 1997 or 1998, in South Carolina, a 1300 player named Pete Danker used to live there and he directed tournaments in the Rock Hill area, and I was at a tournament where in the first round, I had about a minute left. I'm White. There are Black rooks on g8 and g4 with a White pawn on g3, and my King on f2. There were other pieces, but they are irrelevant for the point being made. Black went Rg8-h8, and I played Kg2. Black then went Rh8-g8, and I went Kf2. Black then went Rg4-d4, and I went Ke3. Finally Black went Rd4-g4, and I stated a claim of 3-fold repetition based on Kf2. That idiot director spent 15 minutes arguing with me that it was not 3-fold repetition, that for 3-fold repetition to be claimed, the same moves had to be played back and forth consecutively, and since Black didn't play Rg8-h8 and I didn't play Kf2-g2 the second time, that my claim was going to be denied. It took 10 minutes of heated arguing that he needs to get the rule book out and learn how to read and this and that until another person, who was a player at that event, also had TD certification and pointed out to the clown director that I was 100 percent right!
After about 15 minutes of that BS, the game was finally ruled a draw!
arrav u r totally right
