I play best when I've had a few drinks
whats special about your chess
my knowledge of chess exceeds my actual strength. Thats why my goals arent to become the world's best (IM is my playing strength goal) but to become a commentator/teacher
Whatever the field, respected teachers have achieved something in the field they're teaching.
I suspect that's why they're respected.
I play best when I've had a few drinks
so does Blackburne
He plays tournaments while drinking?
my knowledge of chess exceeds my actual strength.
That's a strange one alright...

That's a strange one alright...
That's the problem with those objective measures, like Elo rating. They don't take into account the player's intent, nor his self-charcterization. Subjective, self-defined measures are clearly much more appropriate.

he did when he was alive.

You made it sound like he was still alive
I would say that there is absolutely nothing special about my chess game. I am a crappy/mediocre player who makes a lot errors due to ignorance and laziness. I suspect that many people who have something 'special' about their game are probably going to have more in common with my style than they want to admit.
Everyone has something about there chess-playing style or knowledge or even achievement that sets them apart from the ratig peers and I wanted to know what you think yours might be ?
