I've seen that written in a chess book somewhere as one of the qualities of a good chess player - the ability to cope with losing just right. Losing needs to cause some pain, but not enough that you stop playing.
Or break things.
I think pattern recognition is one of the most important skills that differentiates players

It’s to anticipate what will happen in the future. Sadly most chess players use this ability exclusively on the chess board and are extremely stupid with their life decisions
Playing good moves.
Hands down, mental fortitude and resilience. It translates well to other aspects in life.

Hands down the best ability of a chess player is Calculataion.
By Calculation I mean calculating different variations and evaluating them well.
I just realized that I read the initial post wrong lmao.
Being so familiar with such a vast amount of patterns that recognizing that right plan in most position happens almost instantly.
