Such a good post I thought I'd copy and paste it without adding anything.
Coping with tenthousands of painful losses without quitting.
I've seen that written in a chess book somewhere as one of the qualities of a good chess player - the ability to cope with losing just right. Losing needs to cause some pain, but not enough that you stop playing.
Or break things.
Given that the strongest chess players are computers, the answer most likely would be logic above everything else.

Hands down the best ability of a chess player is Calculataion.
By Calculation I mean calculating different variations and evaluating them well.
