It is a bud... the same thing happend to me and I got supper excited about it.. but when I analyzed the same Game it was a best move .. that's it.
When a brilliant move isn't that brilliant

Brilliant moves are moves that see farther than the computer can see. So if the computer thinks 20 moves ahead and played a move that thought 22 moves ahead then it would be a brilliant move

Oh ok, so they don't have to be the best move they just have to be better than the computer thought the move was at a low depth

Well, with the new update, all brilliant moves must be a sac of some sort.
Yeah a sac is needed for a brilliant move and the sac has to do something good like winning material

Oh so wait, it has to be a sac that computer didn't see on low depth but doesn't necessarily have to be the best move, it just has to be a winning one?

That's definitely not how brilliant moves work
It is brilliant because you blocked a queen trade and will still get the knight, and if the queen tries to take that pawn you will get a free queen.

I was referring to the fact that the engine claimed that the move was simultaneously brilliant, but not the best move

The definition of a brilliant move was changed in 2021:
Brilliant (!!) moves and Great Moves are always the best or nearly best move in the position, but are also special in some way. We replaced the old Brilliant algorithm with a simpler definition: a Brilliant move is when you find a good piece sacrifice. There are some other conditions, like you should not be in a bad position after a Brilliant move and you should not be completely winning even if you had not found the move. Also, we are more generous in defining a piece sacrifice for newer players, compared with those who are higher rated.

Yes. That happens a lot of times. Also to me. That is because of the new algotithm, you can see people discussing about it in many forums. It's just the system not being perfect, it's hard for an engine to classify a move as "brilliant" so it's basically a (winning) sacrifice detector

Most of my brilliant moves are textbook tactics, often from textbooks I’ve written.
So, I was analysing a game recently, to see I played a "brilliant move."
But then I saw this:
At this point I was confused, I thought a brilliant move was supposed to be the best move, whether or not it was easy to see. Now I do not understand what makes a move "brilliant." Can a move be brilliant even if it isn't the best move? Or is this just a bug?
