When a player refuses to resign

I understand he wanted to win on time, but isn't it better to lose with pride?

tempered2

Why not?

Not resigning means you could not figure out the losing position yet. Which is very dumb to realize late.

gingerninja2003

he wanted a stalemate. and why did you have to promote all of your pawns you could've checkmated him 20 moves earlier that you did.

wanmokewan

People at that level shouldn't resign. There's a greater chance you'll blunder material or stalemate.

I like playing out games when I'm clearly losing, but the example above was ridiculous. A player should ask the other player if they want to continue.

Of course I was wasting time too. I bet he felt helpless. And, I usually do not make unnecessary moves which inspired me today to troll this game happy.png

It depends on the amount of time left... The game was live chess, so he might have had the slightest chance of getting a draw.

I assume you got all the extra Queens out of frustration... but that increases the chances that you will stalemate him. In live chess it is best (unless you know exactly what you are doing) to just go for the easiest checkmate (not necessarily the shortest) that you can find to reduce the chance of making a mistake.

Your opponent would definitely be hoping that you would either run out of time or stalemate him... Smile

what if you made a mistake and stalemated him. it's better to go for the certain win than messing around.

I could finish the game with 2 rooks already, I don't know how he knew my mind beforehand that I'll promote my pawns to queens happy.png

Although judging how fast he was moving I don't think he really gave a thought about stalemate.

Actually not frustration, just trolling. It was a cakewalk for me to checkmate him, even if I had 1 rook.

And right, he was hoping for time out. But without comparing his vs mine, xD

But promoting 3 queens implies that you also don't mind wasting your own time. What do you expect to gain from doing that? Obviously he is trolling you, why does it make sense to troll him?

If you aim to checkmate him as soon as possible, not only are you developing your own skill at checkmating quickly, but you end the game sooner, which you seem to have had a problem playing out. Or maybe you didn't. I'm confused what the purpose of this post is.

You have no right to a resignation! A player resigns when he wants to, or he plays until mate if he chooses. You have no voice in that decision and no excuse for whining

Actually I am worried about these guys. It degrades your chess performance.

I don't doubt that you couldn't, but you asked a question. If you knew the answer, why ask in the first place?

I explained why in previous comments.

The post is about, should you resign or not when result is obvious.

Btw, losing ones get trolled not the opposite.

ZlyphrrPlayz

lol it is obvious he dosen't want to resign since apparently you can't checkmate with 2 rooks and 2 queens...

universityofpawns

wow, what crappy moves by both of you, pains me just to look at it.....nobody deserved to win that game.

tempered2

@Zlyphrrplayz and @gayknight Seriously man, you are fu*king nothing against me. Come play with me.

tempered2

@UniversityOfPorn And you are a what?? NM? CM?? Do you deserve to even play chess? After 2 years of struggle stuck in the middle of garbage! Judge yourself before talking about others. I didn't say my opponent is idiot/he shouldn't play or sth. I asked a specific question here. You don't have any opinion you leave.
