Unfortunately the servers have no idea why you were disconnected. If you do not reconnect in time, it considers it an abandoned game. You can try the link below and it may help answer some of your questions.

the server does not know why, but I have time on the clock. Instead ofrresigning me, just deduct from my time.

But hundreds of people every few hours leave their time to run out or leave the app rather then resigning- and every day there is a new forum complaining about people who stay in the app- if time never ran out, then people who left the app rather then resigning would also have their time tick to 0.... And the complaints would come in even more.

When disconnection occurs... Can you have something more graceful happen than the opponent winning by resignation? I had full 4g connection and I experienced an app disconnection which auto resigned me. I feel this is unjust and incredibly frustrating!
