When to Resign

I agree with excalibur8.

Further, just log off and start making one move a day.  It is certainly annoying to not resign, but it is 1000x less classy to call the person out by name publicly and complain when he is breaking no rules.

Hey, you can't force anyone to resign. That's a decision only your opponent can make. If he/she wants to play to an inevitable mate, you have to put up with it.

Annoying? Yes, but there's nothing that can be done about it.

Ciao

Just checkmate him fast if you have that many pieces
Darrin
I'm sure Larla  would be more than happy to end the game if the guy would move already.
Geo_stelar18
I guess he would like to knight fork your king and two queens before resigning but that's impossible your 2 queens are supporting each other right? And not to mention your Bishop
Darrin
Geo,    Did you miss the part about not discussing ongoing games?
Eternal_Autumn
suck it up man, it's a players choice to resign, if he wants to play it out let him, and stop complaining in the forums.
Larla
But the guy won't even PLAY. He just sits there smugly hoping I will resign out of boredom of witing for him to move!!
kolechess
Dont worry karma will fix him later when someone does the same thing back. Just chill go with the flow. Complaining is not going to help it gives him attention and is a waste of effort on your part.Relax take as much time as you want on your moves make him wait.

Sorry, there isn't much you can do except to let him use up his time.

kolechess and Sunshiny's comments say all there really is to say on this very public game which is still in progress.  There is more than one way to skin a cat - probably two or three if you look carefully.

Why resign?

I think no one should ever resign. There is always a chance for a draw. Never give up, your opponet may mess up. Besides, some people are too proud to resign. I never resign.

Entirely up to the individual.

Jaguarphd

I know, but the guy has lots of material.

That means he has a lot of influence. His opponet can get a stalemate if he messes up.

Lord-Svenstikov
He takes quarter of an hour for his moves and that is a long time?! I take a lot longer than that on some moves and you set the time limit so he can use it if he wants.
virgil09
well as i see it it is well with in the rules of chess after all chess is infinite as long as you move in the time frame of agreement also there are many rules at this point of the game stalemate draw resign etc. if it is that upsetting than dont play that person again
teapotdome

I only resign if I can see an upcoming checkmate that I have absolutely no way of getting out of OR I make such a terrible move that I want to rematch.

As for time limits, most days I only make one move every day or sometimes two days.  Your internet time is not his problem.

I don't find it rude at all for him to not resign even if vastly behind in material.  It is rude to call him out on the forums when he is following the rules. It is wise to remember that not everyone plays with the same mindset as you and from the same setting as you and above all patience goes a long way.

If you have that much of an advantage, winning shouldn't be a problem
gordonhuan
i never resign because the opponent might lose on time, make a mistake, or have to many queens and actcidentally draw...
gordonhuan
and you can learn from the checkmate...
