When Will Chess Tournaments Continue?

I'm dying to play OTB also! I think that by the end of summer (in US) corona will be gone and we can resume playing in tourneys!

Probably never.

Its time to change it where  the importance of being so close to the opponent is ignored. That one candidate says thats not the same and chess is as much about seeing game behavior. But we could hold the rest of the candidates right now if FIDE would wake up.

Or wait until btickler and all the rest figure out the vaccine. Its as easy as issuing safe at home orders and endless looping of covid info.

There have been less than 110,000 deaths world wide so far to date due to COvID. There were about 75 million people that died during World War Two. This is the most overrated story about nothing since I have been alive.

Is this some sort of weird coping technique so you don't have to deal with the truth that you're older and if you get this you're toast?

Well, to be fair, he doesn't look THAT old. (I might be a bit older.) Age alone doesn't automatically mean you're toast, but it does increase the chance of a bad outcome. That's the challenge of this virus - it's new, there's no vaccine, and we're struggling to understand the attack vector of the virus.

Yeah I mean you're right. However, as we have seen with the outbreaks in Italy and the U.S. the initial Chinese disinformation that it was only a threat to senior citizens is just completely wrong. Every day we hear stories of firefighters, cops, and medical personnel in their 30's-50's with no underlying conditions dying from this. Why anyone would still push the narrative that this isn't that big of an issue because "but but its not WW2!" is kind of beyond me.

It's my belief that most, if not all, of the younger people who die of COVID-19 actually have underlying conditions; It's just that they weren't identified. That ties in with my earlier comment about understanding the attack vectors. We've all heard the usual guesses of obesity, prediabetes, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc. And then there are the respiratory issues like smoking, vaping, and asthma. We're now hearing people talk about the "cytokine storm", but the real question is what causes the cytokine storm?

I'm beginning to believe that the non-respiratory issues all circle back to the root causes of high chronic insulin levels and high chronic leptin levels. And there are no drugs for that - it has to be addressed by diet (which people in general don't want to hear).

So just another endless nonsense thread or...sticking to the subject?

Guilty as charged on going off topic. However, I wouldn't classify it as nonsense. I'll try to stay on topic going forward.

Well, we can all have an answer - it just may not be correct!

Never underestimate the stupidity of people. There's probably an illegal OTB tournament going on somewhere in the world as we speak. ;-)
