i want to play some stronger players and see how well i can do. but often times they confuse it for coaching and make me pay no matter what. so i want to know if any of you know where i can play stronger players without having to pay or anything?

if you say chess.com. where on chess.com can i play these people? and what if they all say no?

go to an irl chess club, and set the rating range on ches.com to -25 < > infinity.

AngryPuffer

i do. i just beat them all its not fun

the one NM there does not play anymore and just spectates

AngryPuffer

also the few good players there have a huge ego and ignore everyone else and play with themselves (they are like 1700 elo and they spam londons and exchange frenches)

SenseiWu0513

well, the surefire way to play strong players is to get good enough to be paired with one

AngryPuffer

i want practice with stronger ones online and i wont be able to play OTB for a long time

i play @gunnersroadto1000 alot where we are typically on equal skill level

I could play an unrated game or two for learning. The best way of finding stronger players (in my opinion) is to become chess.com friends with many people (higher than you for experience and lower than you to return that same favor to others), but if you don't have so many connections yet, then entering live arena tournaments is good too. In those, you might get paired with people well above and well below your rating. This gives you good practice for people at all levels.

In the meantime though, we could play an unrated game or two if you like happy.png

why dont you get your rating to 2000 so you get paired with 2000+ players

Sometimes I'm able to find 2000+rated unrated rapid challenges from the Open Challenges board. Some people like to play unrated games against lower rated players; @chesscoachtaipei, @Schism90, and @ChessBum21 come to mind.

Try to make friends on chess.com. I'm sure some people would love to play. Even I would love to play, but I am unfortunately not as strong as you need.

Im friends with GM Gutov Andrey and NM Mayo_Neighs. They seem to accept requests from random people although I did play Mayo_neighs in atomic chess before.
