Are you familiar with general principles in the three stages of a game? In the opening you want to do things like put center pawns on the fourth rank; develop minor pieces to further control the center; don't move anything repeatedly; don't bring your Queen out too early; castle your King to safeguard it. In the middle game, give your pieces mobility. Give your Bishops open diagonals. Put your Rooks on open files. Connecting them on open ranks and files is a powerful tool. Make pieces cooperate by attacking your opponent's King, swapping pieces to gain material and create weaknesses in your opponent's camp, watch for hanging pieces, weak squares you can occupy and any tactical opportunities. In the endgame, centralize your King, promote passed pawns, put pressure on your opponent's King. Gain advantages in your position, keep material advantages you have and you'll win some games without checkmating your adversary. Ask for good books to study. Analyze your games and those of other players. Accept streaks, both winning and losing.

Hello,
I just crossed 1000 Elo, my alltime goal in chess. I want to continue getting betetr but I dont know where to start improving. I basically have no idea what I'm doing, I win most of my games because of tactics, but I have no sens eof strategie and when I can't make a super agressive move I just play random moves that feel right. I would really apreciate tips or lectures (preferably free) or general directions to where to improve.
Thank you!
