I don't know whether this is intended as a serious question, since Wikipedia has an article titled "History of chess" that explains the origin of chess:

"Precursors to chess originated in India. There, its early form in the 7th century CE was known as chaturaṅga (Sanskrit: चतुरङ्ग), which translates to "four divisions (of the military)": infantry, cavalry, elephantry, and chariotry. These forms are represented by the pieces that would evolve into the modern pawn, knight, bishop, and rook, respectively. (...)"

It was invented in India, but it wasn't the same game as it is today. There were a lot of rule changes needed still

The last major rule change was in England in the 1800s where it was decided white would always move first. Games before then sometimes had black moving first (including the immortal game)
