I think Sam Sloan has said something like that on his wiki page.
We have a winner! I honestly know very little about the guy, just remember him always being on the fringes in the early days of Usenet. But that at least was the truth and easily verified. On his other claims? No idea. He seems one of those odd people, that have good and bad qualities almost exactly in equal proportion. Just my opinion.
