Who invented chess?
The Ancient Egyptians played a game called senet. It is a bit like chess, and Persians were very close to ex-Egypt territory, they even invaded it in 525 BC. Maybe chess evolved from senet?
But!
Indians can also say they invented chess. They had a game, called shatranj. It looked like chess, too. A grandmaster of shatranj, As-Suli, wrote the first book about chess in 9th or 10th century.
What do you think is more convincing?
Give this a like and search for my article called ''Which country is the best on chess?'', cause I tried hard to find this information.
Tell your friend hes wrong
Not one person has invented chess. Not one country. Not one nation. It has evolved through many centuries, a lot of nations and countries changed a bit in it till it arrived here.
Rumor has it that the game chaturanga in India 1400 years ago was the early version of chess but as time went on and the game traveled it evolved because different places changed it to suit their preferences. With it's current worldwide popularity it's clear that most players are happy with this current version.
Although I think freestyle is a good idea.
I agree. I don’t think the core of chess really changes, just the way it’s played and talked about.

I agree, that's true.
Well, I think there was some country/kingdom and they were testing strategizes on some carved wood pieces and someone just made it into a game and was playing with friends and family and it evolved.

Yeah, I agree. Sounds like chess just grew out of practicing strategies.

Yeah, I agree. It’s cool to see how games like Senet and Shatranj might have shaped chess.
Hey umm I’ve been wondering about this for a while: do we actually know who invented chess? Was it created by a single person, or did it gradually evolve over time? I’ve heard about its connection to ancient India and Persia, but I’m curious what others think and what historical evidence we have.
Looking forward to your thoughts 😊
