Some people argue that chess was invented many years ago.

My opinion is that chess was invented in the future.

Chess got 64 squares similar to modern computers running on 64 bit operating system.

64 bit operating a system and 64 squares equal the same thing?

And if we use 64 bit computer now, according to your logic, wouldn’t it be more accurate to say that Chess was invented now???

Sumerian Societies BC combined two games, one of my books on chess history proposes as a theory: One was a popular running game with promotion predating checkers or backgammon; the other was ritual calendar used by priests (or priestesses in that case) showing the position of the visible planets, including there apparent retrograde movements on the eclipse.

Note that the pattern of eight (times eight, and so on) is also present with prehistoric chinese culture.

So indeed there is no real proof who exactly invented which predecessor of modern chess.

The best theory seems in fact it has been invented in the future. wink.png I really like that idea for its easy absurdness. thx goldenrule for this

@balusap oh yes "bunk" what a great argument to pronounce.

The mere fact you have an option to promote your pawns strongly suggests it is quite probable not one but an array of predecessors to modern chess.

As you can see in the topic headline the question wasn't who invented modern chess, but "who invented chess".

So the above mentioned Chaturanga sure was one of chess origins, however only for simple minds the only one.

Since you seem to be good at google find: Gerhard Josten; "Der Läufer war eine Dame", ISBN 3-920748-31-X. It's a pretty well researched book and drills down to the previous historians of chess, starts out by revising the chaturanga story, has a thorough look at chinese chess and its connection with oracle techniques, focuses on acheologic research in Mesopotamia, as a possible ancestor of the two former mentioned predecessors.

It's a commonly accepted advice in playing chess to give ideas a shot, instead of sticking to the bunk.

It was probably Al Gore. He claimed to invent the internet and he also invented global warming. 🤣

p.s. I am NOT attempting to start a debate over any of those things or make a political statement. just having a little fun. so if you are a snowflake, please do not respond. its a joke.

Yes.. chess too difficult that any human around our age 0 - 1000 years.. could have invented it.. so infact once in future technology exist to send something back to past.. humans send back the game chess.. so we can play it today..  : -)

Chess, as commonly known was originated in India around the 6th century. It was called as "Chaturanga"

And about your opinion, it's cool ig? But the choice of 64 squares in chess was not a prediction of modern computers
