Carlsen.
Who is better gm hikaru or gm Magnus Carlson

Every super GM plays about equally in long time controls. Hikaru is better at hyper bullet chess, Carlsen is better at bullet chess.

Well, Carlsen is the current world champion so until someone snags it from him I think the answer is pretty clear (at least for classical/slower types of games).

The world champion could have been Caruana, but Carlsen decided to force a draw so that he could win against him in rapid chess. The scores were even until it came down to the faster-paced tie-breaker. So, that's all on which I'm basing my assumption about super GMs playing equally in long games. Had Carlsen faced Hikaru in a hyper bullet match, Hikaru would have had a better chance of winning, but not by a lot.

It is 11-5 for Carlsen at standard time controls and many draws along with that (24-12 in all time controls).
9-1 against Nakamura (20-3 in all time controls, excluding draws)

It is not really close. They are both top players but Hikaru will never challenge for WC and has a very bad head to head score against Magnus in all time controls.
