Who made chess???- Chess Theory #1
With no internet, TV, video games, or even books, I imagine people had a lot of time and motivation to cure boredom. I'm sure chess-like games date back way before recorded history.

Interesting Theory, but I agree with Neil DeGrasse Tyson idea that the human people from earth were well capable to do great projects. He says that the idea of the pyramids being built by aliens also shows some people prejudice against human intelligence. I do think that aliens may be somewhere in this vast universe, but the humans are well capable of accomplishing several intelligent things.

In a more recent but little known finding, Russian archaeologists found a Palaeolithic travel chess set in Siberia dating back approximately 13,000 years used by nomadic foragers. The pieces were exquisitely carved from mammoth ivory but one piece, the presumed equivalent of a pawn, was missing and had been replaced by a matchstick.
Hi everyone I did some research and it says that modern chess sets were made in the 1840s in England. However, chess was made in Ancient India- or is it? Architects have found games dating back to Ancient Egypt that were related to chess. Also at that period of time, China decided to make their version of chess- xiangqi. Plus the Ancient Indians played chess in such a different way that Europeans had to improve it. They added in castling and how the queen could go in almost every direction. So in conclusion modern chess were made by the Europeans.
