KEEP GOING THERE AND KEEP PLAYING EVERYONE UNTIL YOU BEAT EVERYONE, MAKE THEM RESPECT YOU!!! EVEN IF THEY DONT LIKE IT!! THATS WHAT I DID, IT TOOK ME 6 MONTHS OF TRAINING BEFORE I SHOWED UP AGAIN AND I BEAT EVERYONE NOW I HAVE RESPECT WHEN I WALK IN AND IT FEELS DAMN GOOD! DO NOT COWARD AWAY, I will tell you like Bobby Fischer said, "I don't believe in pychology, i believe in good moves" use your talent, build your strength and make the MFers respect you!!! period. that is your number one goal right now... MAKE THEM RESPECT YOU!!!

But your rating here is around 1000...

Are all the players on your club beginners?

Maybe you should try going to a better club, with at least an IM giving lessons and high rated members.

lol. always someone trying to be funny, look have you ever heard of people who play higher than their actual ratings are? has that ever occured to you?, no my rating here is 1360 and the people i play with have uscfs of 1600-1900. And your looking at my blitz, not my standard which is 1360 something, and on chesscube my rating is 1570 something, so yeah, watch your (no profanity in the forums, please - mod) mouth dude :)

Here is an example of me beating people that are out of my league :)

Its not the first time, i've done it online and i've done it in person which to my opinion im better when i play in person.

Would you like another example of me beating people who are nearly 300 points ahead of my rating? or should i make you an example?

Another time, I was playing this kid, and after a move I was taking a while to think... so he said "I'm threatening mate so..." and I didn't believe him so I ignored him and made a move... and was immediately checkmated.  He jumped up and did a victory dance shouting, "whoo hooo, Mohammad Ali, one punch knock out, who's the champ"

It was all in good fun though, I was laughing.

Next game I got him in an opening trap where he loses a piece or it's mate, and so I got to give it back, "I'm threatening mate so..." and he just laughed.

 good story!

I don't know about chessplayers being arrogant, but I once saw some dudes wearing leather jackets going into a bar of all guys.  I assummed (like everyone would)it was a tough acting chess club.  I walked in and these guys weren't playing chess, they were dancing.  I ran, lol!

Thats an example of what a chess club should NOT be. Some chess clubs arent official clubs, theyre gatherings - but theyre very social!

kleelof

Being a bit arrogant toward other chess players is a side-effect of playing chess. Playing, winning and imporving requires a certain amount of confidence that can often times come across as arrogant.

Here is an article I was just reading today that addresses your problem:

And, if you drop your wallet, don't stop to bend over and pick it up!

winerkleiner

Right, count that as a loss and RUN, lol.

kleelof

That's one chess game you DON'T want to capture the queen.

winerkleiner

Lol, these queens are horn dogs, heehee.

Dare-Dare

I look at the thread name and I'm like: "Well, the Seattle CC isn't arrogant!"
