Why are speedruns even allowed?
Absolutely. And its cringeworthy how people claim you get to play a gm, when the gm is going in anonymous and you never even know. Its so dishonest.
Yes, it should be an option, where players could opt in and out. It would change and solve absolutely nothing, but it would be nice towards the 1% of sensitive chess population. Maybe the feeling of safety from evil speedrunners would help them improve.
Do you know what else would help them improve? Not resigning and getting tilted after they hang their queen. I have NEVER resigned after a blunder and many many times have won a game after an early loss of queen. That feels good, not resigning and winging about it on forums, you crybaby.
How can I start a Speedrun Account
You don't. https://support.chess.com/article/596-can-i-have-multiple-accounts
Coolout got his refund, all his posts deleted and left for lichess. It's actually over 20 pages missing with more than 400 posts of fond memories gone😂
About the comments referring to lichess... I think it's funny to only look at systems and how modern and good they are at chess.com when you completely ignore every other aspect and the simple possibility that a person may feel sick with the site

Nothing stopping anyone who feels like that from following Coolout's example
it's really very sad. He was so crazy that he was funny
You can find his toxic comedy in the Lichess forums.
Btw I think most people who play chess would feel honored to play or even meet a GM, not mad because he is unfairly temporary removing 8 rating points or something

yAY
Speedruns usually include players who would like a chance to play against a master, and all points are refunded. In my view, they're a fun way for amateurs to get to play a master, while giving the master the challenge of beating all of them, hopefully with instructive games. It is a bit like a simul, although here the master doesn't have the added challenge of playing them all at once.
I have no problem with speedruns when participation is voluntary, but agree with Coolout that it is a nefarious practice when the "victims" are unaware they are playing a GM.
Why? Aren't they basically smurfing and making multiple accounts? Plus, they have the same effect which smurfing does. It messes up the rating pools.
No it doesn't because speedruns must get approval from chess.com; they play their speedrun and then close their account afterwards - everyone they beat get the points refunded I believe but not 100% sure
yes true
I'm finding Eric Rosen's speedrun quite instructive. He's a good teacher and is complimentary towards those he is beating during the speedrun.
does the 'victim' get notified right after the game-so they can immediately understand what happened?
I'd hope it is notification right after the game, so the player can review the game, with that in mind.

That's a good question.
When I lose, I usually look at my opponent's home page. This is Rosen's speedrun account:

I'd say that's transparent enough.
