Why can't I play blitz

To be fair I had a previous account on here with well over a thousand blitz games, so I've well over 3000 overall (plus a similar amount of bullet games). I'm not at 1500 right now anyway lol, on a hell of a losing streak (well, it may be peppered by the occasional win).

Tactics trainer ratings and daily chess have nothing to do with live chess, those are totally different. Tactics puzzles already provide a question, in actual games you have to know when to look. Daily chess is a joke imo, because people can use opening books and analyze on different boards. People say blitz correlates with the ability to play slow chess because it is the middle ground between bullet and rapid. Some have a higher bullet rating, but lower rapid rating; my case is the other way around, I am better at rapid but suck at bullet, do not take into account my daily chess rating because I resigned many games in move 3 or so (I was bored to death waiting for a move).

Down to 1400. Lol. They seem to be playing just as well as a 1600, actually spotting tactics. I honestly don't feel like I'm playing any worse but apparently everyone else hasn't suddenly changed so I guess I am.
I am the same as you mariosuperlative, the problem i have is it takes me about 10 seconds or so to absorb the position before i can even begin to start thinking of a move. it means in blitz games i have to choose between losing on time or making a move when i'm not really aware of where all the pieces are in relation to each other and probably blundering but i am fine in longer time controls and correspondance games. i have watched others play blitz and i have no idea how they can move so quickly
If you're in a slump, playing 32 blitz games in one day isn't going to break you out of that slump. Take a break dude lol. Also a lot of people have a 200-300 point gap between blitz and rapid so that's no big deal. Another tip, the biggest difference between playing a 1500 and a 1600 player is the amount of points you'll lose if you get beat. Lately I've been setting my challenges at -50 +open and I'm now 1700 blitz for the first time ever on chess.com. I even played an 1800 the other day that I should've beat. About halfway through the game the app started lagging bad and I ran out of time with mate in one.... Grrrrr!

Playing stronger players will give you a rating boost, I usually play -100 and +open. Mainly because when you play against weaker players you gain little but have a chance to lose a lot

Same. My blitz rating is usually about 400 to 500 points lower than my daily and tactics ratings. I lose a lot of blitz games because I have unreliable WiFi and bad phone signal at home so I'll lose my connection and time out or manage to reconnect but only after losing a lot of time. My connection also lags so sometimes even if I premove I lose a few seconds off the clock for each move. I also play a lot of blitz while distracted eg a friend or my gf will start chatting to me. If I cared about my blitz rating, I wouldn't play blitz unless I was playing with a wired mouse alone in a quiet room with no distractions on a fast, reliable wired Internet connection.

Also @#5 xD You start with an illegal position, where all legal moves win and also 1.Qe5 Rh7 kinda makes u look silly.
i did rh7 for it to look more interesting for beginers!

Great puzzle.
It's only illegal and doesn't work but other than that it's great.
thanks guys i appreciate it! would you like to send me a friend request? i would love to stay in touch... i made this puzzle myself!
Hi. My blitz reached a new high of around 1540 recently but I lost countless games in a row to bring it down a lot. Even that is much lower than my daily rating and tactics rating and significantly lower than my rapid rating. I understand that different controls have different distributions, and typically blitz < bullet < rapid < daily < tactics < lessons but when I look at the ratings of people who beat me in blitz, they are very frequently a lot lower than me in daily chess and rapid chess. I can play extremely accurate games in daily chess by going over lines and trying to understand the position, but I don't get any immediate understanding like others seem to. In blitz, I feel like I'm just wandering around aimlessly while my opponents pile relentless pressure, with every move essentially attacking something. It is clearly not for lack of practice; look at how many games I have played. Do I think too slowly or what? I just don't understand why my relative ability in long and slow games is so different, seemingly, to everyone else's.
Well perhaps it's not strictly true that I'm aimless. I have some plans, but they're always terrible plans, or tactically don't work. And it varies a lot, hence the random rating spikes and drops. Sometimes I play a 1600 and think how obvious and easy to parry everything they're doing is, other times a 1450 makes me collapse. I know blitz is not the most important thing but it correlates well with ability in slow chess for everyone else, or so it seems..
