You're playing fast time controls.

You're moving to fast.

How are you expecting to improve when you're not giving yourself time to think?

I’ve had experiences like what you described. And I understand that sometimes things get frustrating. But you can’t give up. I would suggest you stay positive and don’t get stressed out. Enjoy playing. Think hard, logically, and strategically.

Embrace loss. Then start enjoying the game. That is what I strive towards anyway.

It’s all in the mental game. If you keep losing, log out for a while and don’t play frantically to get a win .

Time to reassess motives. Your compass is off. Happens to us all. What means better?
A Rating is not the best answer. Perhaps you’re playing solely to win games - forgotten to stop and smell the roses along the way.

Looking at your puzzle rating you are quite decent at tactics. Maybe you should study the endgame more and learn a few simple strategic ideas.

For strategy,( to help decide what move to make in the middlegame) I recommend Silman's book  "Reassess Your Chess". Go here to download it as a PDF for Free: https://www.pdfdrive.com/how-to-reassess-your-chess-fourth-edition-e160110189.html

I use the above website all the time it works well.

Now for Endgame, I use this amazing website to run drills ( and it also has some good middlegame concepts and a free opening repertoire for white and black). I use the website mainly to train for the endgame: http://www.masteryourchess.com/

You are a diamond member so you have access to drills of all kinds here at chess.com. Here are the links:

https://www.chess.com/drills

https://www.chess.com/drills/endgame-practice?ref_id=2726164

There is another website that gives away a massive amount of chess knowledge in all phases of the game. Check this one out last: https://simplifychess.com/homepage/index.html

I started playing a few months ago and I've made good progress using the websites above.

Everything on the websites are free and available to anyone. Work the drills, a lot of chess is pattern recognition mixed with practical knowledge of chess concepts.

I hope it helps.

You're actually pretty good compared to all of the people you cavort with.  My lifetime rating is about the same as yours.  Over the years I've found that:

1) A significant amount of time and effort will help, but it's generally not worth the dedication as long as chess is just your recreation... or:

2) You were born to be a chess prodigy, which you weren't, so a "reality check" is a worthy reflection.  If you were a chess prodigy, your elo would've been 2000 whilst you were still in mommies womb.

3) Depending upon your age, you can possibly improve.  BUT! OTB, and definitely clocked games will help.  Not speed chess!  Don't play speed chess untill you've gotten much more experience.

Thanks everyone i feel very confident now

I played a chess match after doing drills reading some of those articles and playing slower time controls but i lost this match because i didn't think

As someone once said: "Rome hasn't been built in one day".

Progress takes time. If you wish to dedicate the time to get better at chess you will get better eventually.

Perhaps “thinking” is the culprit !

You’re obviously too worried about either winning or losing. Play the dang game.

Such a thing as feel/intuition can be very effective.
Thinking too hard for every move results in headaches leading to frustration. One time you are right - next time wrong. The solution rests in learning from mistakes. During the game the mind needs  be free of constraints.
