Why can’t I play people my level?

I always get to play people who have a higher rating then me and that also means they have more experience. But people with more experience r better than people who don’t. N I think I am one of them. How do I improve my chess?
At 800+ it's going to be tough finding a match with the same rating. Most players work right through 800 and finally plateau at 900+, as was in my case.
Personally, I love playing stronger opponents.
