I think people generally don't want to put in the tremendous amount of time and effort to get good at the game. I have started and stopped playing chess a lot throughout my life, often feeling the weight of so much to learn. My last time I was serious about chess was 18 years ago. Had I even been dabbling with it regularly, my game would be so much further than it is now. You have to keep at it and keep working. Super grandmasters lose all the time. They have weaknesses they have to work on too. It's all a work in progress to make the best moves and do your best.

for me personally the best point to stop training chess (like endgames, middlegames etc) is when I reached the point where I can follow old or new GM-games and can appreciate the beauty of chess without understanding everything.

If you are able to play interesting creative games, tactics, beautiful combinations you will understand how brilliant some GM-games are.
