Outcome of the game when you lose your queen almost always favors your opponent and will happen 99%. They just resign to not waste time since them losing is more likely than anything else.
Why do many people quit after losing their queen?

sure, they have a higher chance of losing, but you can't just quit a game like that, its unsportsmanslike.

Why is it unsportsmanslike? Interesting opinion. Many people would argue it's quite the opposite, resigning is sign of respect and playing on means you think your opponent doesn't know how to win up a queen.

I agree with Arnaut10. There is absolutely nothing unsportsmanlike in resigning straight after losing your queen. If you don't think you can win the game, you resign. It's a show of respect.
However, as someone mentioned earlier in a similar thread, it all depends on your level. High rated players know when playing on would be a waste of everybody's time. Inexperienced players like me tend to play to the very bitter end.

Queen is life of many players they need it desperately even if they arent going to use it and keep it in corner its essential

this is only one of the many games I've played where they quit the moment they lose their queen. Sure, they just lost their best piece, but they still have so many other useful pieces like their knights, bishops and rooks, so why just quit like that? I seriously don't understand the people who do that;-;
you shouldn't resign if your below 1000 level and lose a queen cuz there's always a chance your opponent might blunder black. However, at my level, most players know how to convert a material advantage into a win.

the point is, for an example, let's look at soccer. If you go 4-0 down, can you resign? It would be a disgrace if you did, and frankly that's the case here. Just because you've lost 9 points and an important piece doesn't mean you lose. You have a rook, bishop, knight and most importantly, your king. There has been many games where you can lose your queen and still win. It's not a matter of time, it's about telling your opponent you still care about the match. It's in chess.com rules not to resign unless you need, and losing your queen isn't a good excuse, is it?

You, guys, and your soccer.. It's football, when will you ever learn? 😁
As for what you're saying, I'm not disputing that you don't have to resign when you lose your queen. In fact, if you're confident enough that you can still win the game, by all means play on. What I disagree with is that resigning in such case is unsportsmanlike. I don't see it as disrespect if you resign because you believe the game is already lost.

This is actually so very true, especially for inexperienced players. It's like a comfort blanket for a lot of people, and losing their queen makes them panic. I was like that myself when I just started playing chess. And still am, to be honest, when I play a much higher rated opponent.

i know it's football, I said soccer to make sure y'all understand. All the Yanks go on with soccer and the Brits say football, which are the rest of the world supposed to follow? Also, regarding 'you resigning because you believe the game is lost.'
Man United(my favourite club) trashed Southampton 9-0 earlier last season, and Southampton didn't resign after going 4-0 behind at half-time, no?
It depends on the person, but for me resigning is unsportsmanlike unless you really have to go.

Welp, I guess grandmasters are unsportsmanlike. @Arnaut10 is correct.

it's not about the chances of you losing. It's about you fighting till the very end mate.

whats the point of fighting to the end when you're already losing? There's a very high chance that your opponent will probably checkmate you.

I was just kidding! Call it what you will. The rest of the world will call it football
And yes, I agree with you, you chose yourself what is right for you. People's opinion on resigning is clearly divided here, there are a lot of people who agree with you. As long as you don't try to force your opinion down my throat, I'm fine with it.

yes, there are people who would resign when they lose their queen, and there are some optimistic guys like me who just want to fight till the result shows.
