they take it too seriously
why do my opponents get so mad?
I mean, even if my opponent insults me, I still got the dub. I don't really care how much they insult me
For all different kinds of reasons, but it comes down to immaturity and poor sportsmanship. Accept that it happens and try to move on.
The worst that's ever happened to me is that someone slams the clock really hard, and that's it
I don't get the point of slamming the clock really hard. People tend to do this when
a.) They're losing
b.) They think they made a really strong move
But it makes it super easy to tell what your opponent thinks about his position. I just gently tap the clock and keep a poker face to hide what I think. Also slamming the clock hurts your hand xD
It's just a game!!!!! Can someone tell me why peopel get so triggered
Cos peopel are peopel
So why should it be...
Media tells us over and over and over that every individual is special and the star of their own story, and that we can do literally anything if we just try hard enough and we are passionate about it.
This conflicts with reality, because everybody in the world cannot be special (by definition, the word loses meaning if applied to everyone)...ergo, angry people that flip out when they discover that their self worth is built on a fantasy.
"What? I lost?!? How can that be, I was passionate and tried my best, and that is supposed to guarantee 100% success every time! Some plot device is supposed to come in and reward me at the end of the story for trying so hard...where is it!?!"
The hard logic of the fact that if 100 people join a tournament section, only 1 can actually win, even though almost all of them are trying their best and are passionate about it...just escapes people that grown up with movies and TV and books and songs telling them they can always be "the one".
It takes time to mature to a point where one realizes that self worth comes from within, not externally.
"Crap, I only win sometimes, and sometimes I lose, but I'm still pretty unique and awesome anyway, and I don't need to win all the time just to feel good about myself".
Competition focused on winning against others is a form of manufactured self worth, competing against your own standards and understanding when you are good at something (without needing/requiring a steady wake of defeated rivals in your path to tell you you are good) is the healthy way to go.

I really, really hate people who slam my clock really hard after each move. I have a DGT 3000. :/

well said, soldier!
happened to me before, except my guy used the f-bomb.
guy called me something wayyy worse starting with a c
Another time, my friend Justin was playing a 1600 guy who just blundered a rook. Then guy yelled "shit!" And he was promptly forfeited.
Finally, there was a dude who called his opponent a "dick" when he wouldn't let him take back his move...
