Why Do People Get Mad At Me For Not Accepting Their Rematch Request?
Maybe they're just sore losers...
It’s not personal so don’t take any notice of it.

I got abused in messages, downmarked for being a bad sport, sent the nannying chess.com good conduct top three to agree to - I pay for this service and it's not cheap, just to be abused by emotional people who become aggressive when they don't get what they want. Like children.

Lol.
There needs to be an option "Demand obligatory rematch and will publically attack someone else's character if refused" and if I uncheck it, I do not get matched with these types.
As a general rule: if you played the white pieces and won, it's good sportsmanship to accept a rematch and give your opponent a chance to be white. If you won with the black pieces, or if you lost as white, that's not so much the case.
That said, if someone is going to be petulant about not getting a rematch, they didn't deserve one anyway, from either side of the board.
Ultimately though, who you accept a rematch from is your business, no one else's. Block someone if needed.

I hardly, if ever, reward a rematch, and I've never been questioned about it. So whenever I stumble on these threads, which imply a certain kind of regularity, I can't help but wonder - "what's that guy doing differently?"

Accepting a rematch show you are not affraid to play again. Leaving the board without even send a message saying "sry htg", which takes a few seconds to type in, let your opponent think either you are affraid to play again and you got lucky/unlucky playing the first game, or you were cheating, or else. In the end it's a courtesy thing and a good sportsmanship.

According with old unwritten law of business, your customer it's your master and you should do whatever your customer wants from your business (in this case playing chess together) to make them happy. This is how I see it!

When I decline a match request, I offer them an explanation - like: Sorry I can’t play as I have 20 matches on going.

No opponent is a customer of mine..are they ?
Nor of the vast majority of users.
If I worked for chess.com, I might well go along with what you say

I've been called a runner, and someone scared of losing when I beat someone pretty soundly and don't accept the opponent's rematch.
I rather play a new opponent each time than someone bitter of losing the first time.
What do you think?
