I like chess because of TACTICS! With over a million possible move combinations and an opponent who is unpredictable, out-strategizing them is brain-painfully fun! Not only individual moves but also piece groupings create unique PATTERNS which is why puzzles are great teaching tools. It is fantastic for the mind, decreasing dementia later in life.

Nah, GM-Ads doesn't seem disappointed to me either. It was a good question!

I believe it's because it is a game that gives you the illusion of creativity & the illusion of infinity.

It's obviously not infinite bc there are only 64 squares and limited things each piece can do.

I think of it kind of like music. There are only 12 tones but there's also theory and the correct way to be creative to make something worth listening to.

I like winning, it's also something I can constantly do without much preparation. Good to kill time, and it's also interesting.
Somehow i am not too interested in puzzling things.

The erroneous calculations stemmed from the exchanges, or a missed mating net, or a failed defensive position; is what always makes me want to go back and relook that lost game

And it’s in that learning process that is probably most appealing, most entertaining for me
