Why do people like to hate on Bobby Fischer?

It seems like in so many comment sections people think he was weak, when actually you could argue he is in contention for the strongest of all time.
True. I mean he was almost 2800 back in 1972! The next top 9 players were all 2600s, and even “only” 2500 or so. That’s a larger lead than Kasparov or Magnus in their respective primes. Also, Fischer faced the might of the Soviet patriarchy, so things were not in his favor at all. Very remarkable when you think about it.
#4 With computers he probably wouldn't have used as much dedication and brainpower, since that doesn't really require much creativity
And he played the game for that

GOAT chess player. Despicable human being. People tend to focus more on the latter.
Fischer retired abruptly after becoming World Champion in 1972, leaving the chess world wondering how much more he could have achieved.
