Why Do You Enjoy Chess?

I only been playing chess since July 2015 and I love it...I guess you can call it my stress reliever and mind stimulator. I also enjoy watching others play. What do chess do for you?

kunfuelephant105

Chess makes you smarter and it's fun to play. I would give it a 9 out of 10.

Iluvmarlies

I give it a 100 out of 10.

BlargDragon

I don't. Chess brings back painful memories of the time I was beaten and had my lunch money stolen by several members of the royal family while trying in vain to crawl away on a checkered marble floor.

I like the tension caused by all the possibilities of success and failure being under your control... and at the same time not easy. Not only does the opponent work against you, but also the position may be difficult, or your own skills may not be very consistent.

This means the successes can be genuinely enjoyed, and the failures genuinely frustrating.

It's also rewarding to see personal improvement, and chess offers an endless amount of challenging opponents to test ourselves against.

Love that answer

HessianWarrior

I love chess because it gives me something to do instead of listening to the woman flapping her lips.

Thats funny. You didnt get mated did you?

Fortunately it ended when one of them, who didn't realize the others had stopped for a moment, punched me with a right hook three times in a row.

DrSpudnik

Chess gives me the heebie-jeebies!
