I've always assumed that people who do this have something about their life that's upsetting them. So they insult strangers online as a coping mechanism.

I had someone insult me at the game one time and I have not forgotten the comments. It can be aggravating, especially if your just here to relax and enjoy yourself. I always tell myself these people are probably ten-year-olds who don't know any better. If it's adults acting this way, I'm probably winning in life much more than anything they are doing to me on a chess board.
