This is true of any 'leisure activity', that is to say all sports and games. How many truly good tennis players are there in the world who can make a proper living from the game, and put money away for a rainy day? There are probably more chess professionals making a decent living out of chess than there are tennis players making a living out of tennis. Those who actually make it, as a proportion of those who try, is very low in any sport. It's just so happens that athletes in American football, soccer, ice hockey, tennis, golf etc are much more visible than chess players. I honestly fail to see how this makes them more or less alpha or beta male. Arguably, you are mad for trying to make money from a hobby instead of finding yourself a real, steady job.

weinstein sounds like a raging a@#h"le, but the cross examination destroyed the prosecution's witnesses. all the affectionate messages and overtures from the victims towards Weinstein after the fact of the supposed crime create a reasonable doubt about his guilt. so far, anyways.
