automatically???
Why does nobody say 'good game' anymore?

Because...it often isn't?
I mean, what I hate is when that automatically pops up...it's just a social thing some will say. One might as well 'auto say': "Nice pair of slippers you have on".

I do it if I play a lot of games, but if I play one game my opponent really doesn't really care anyway

lmao
Seriously...if there is no thought behind a phrase, it is useless....could even be considered insulting if you actually played badly.

Good argument and maybe time for chess.com to change it into " Thank You " ¿? but then again Thank You for winning or Thank you for loosing or Thank You for draw and so better say nothing as not many people really look at the messages after a game ¿?

Why does everybody say " Good Morning " or " Good Afternoon " or " Good Evening " when it is raining or snowing or windy or whatever like hell ?

Don't be lazy and just say good game!
Thank them for the time they spent playing with you!
thats the spirit!
@laskersnephew- I agree. I need every second and STILL run out of time. When do I say good game? If I didn’t run out of time, then I just realized that I was mated and it’s too late to say good game

When I played tournaments over the board I never said "good game" after the game, I could have talks about the game with the opponent afterwards and discuss it but it isn't standard to say "good game".
Also I see some people writing "good luck" before the first move which is just odd, why would you wish your opponent luck? It comes off as sarcastic instead.
I do however write a ""-emoji before the game because that's what you do over the board, you shake hands before the first move, that's it.
Someowe talk with me
