Yeah, it's usually people who want rematches that start these threads, and mostly people who avoid rematches that post in the thread.

so you avoid them too? welcome to the club

No, I don't avoid rematches. I almost always rematch.

"I think it's better if everybody plays everybody at least 4 times"

Why?

"but less than 2 isn't really acceptable."

Why not?

"Anyone with a policy of declining rematches are in denial of an agenda."

What agenda?

"Those in favor of rematches, for whatever reason, are essentially being legally insulted. No body is getting reprimanded for telling another person to "get over them selves," despite this being condescending and substantially more insulting than childish name calling."

If this is the agenda you're referring to, then you're being ridiculous. Chess.com has no motivation to push such an agenda, nor is there any evidence that they are doing so. There is no way to make a profit out of such an agenda.

"People declining rematches never admit to why"

Yes they do. In almost every single thread on this topic, there are large numbers of reasons given for refusing rematches. Check the first page of this thread if you don't believe me.

"and project this dishonesty, denial and evasive behavior onto those in favor of rematches."

What denial, dishonesty, and evasive behavior? Also, that's a lot of insults for someone who's complaining that chess.com allows people to insult those who want rematches.

"oh, but we're too stubborn to accept defeat? This is taunting and it goes unpunished."

No. However, many of the people who start threads about it are. I have no idea if that applies to you.

"Chess.com simply needs to stop defending and advocating such poor sportsmanship."

Refusing rematches isn't poor sportsmanship. Saying it doesn't make it so.

"If dating services can match people on ridiculously picky criteria, why can't chess.com pair pro-rematch people with pro-rematch people and pair anti-rematch people with anti-rematch people?"

Because there's no financial incentive to do so.

If they’re like me, they don’t want you to find out bad they really are... at my level I’m usually starting the analyzing feature immediately to find out where i went astray, which isn’t hard to find, and then the rematch request pops up. Too late.

i usually accept rematch requests when opponent blunders a queen and resigns.. it feels like i didnt win it myself.

I feel like I got lucky, and don't want to take another chance

To be honest, justs, it seems to me that you really really like rematches and can’t get over the fact that Some people don’t. The fact that Some people might not quite enjoy rematches as much as you do, seems to me a point that you might want to take into consideration before, say, posting insults on their wall or going on internet Rants about their supposed cowardice or idiocy. But hey, you do you man.

People playing rematches play rematches regardless of the result, but there are a large group of people that rematch or run depending on the result or how much trouble they had in getting the result they got. There are also people that just decline every rematch and move on to the next game regardless of the result. Both groups here are over generalizing and accusing the other of being in the middle group - the group that only rematches or runs when it suits them.

this part definitely sounds reasonable.  however unsure if chess.com will implement this opponent selection feature based on user preferred rematch option, though it sounds like trivial work.  but until then, it seems pointless to complain either way, except to have fun on the forums.
