Why Is Chess A Sport

Now, why is chess a sport? I suppose a sport is like swimming, tennis, or other sports. I never knew that some games counts as a sport too (like chess). I told my question to my mom, and she said:”I don’t know, but I think people just call it a sport.” Is chess a sport because it ‘exercises’ your mind? Please give me a answer.

It's not a sport.
We just want it included in the Olympics.
