why is game explorer soooooooooo slow????

Everytime I try to use the game explorer it takes sooooo long to load a position. I'm talking about clicking e4 to start a position and then waiting 2 minutes! And I'm not on a slow interenet connection. Every other page here loads reasonably quickly. Every move I do, either by clicking and dragging a piece or by clicking on the options of moves on the right hand side, takes this long. It drives me crazy!!!!

Why does it have to be this way? Other sites I go to don't take that long to load their game positions. This just makes me not want to use it and go offsite to use other resources.

Lift your game Chess.com!!

I don't think the transmission time is the cause. (And I'm a kiwi living in Thailand by the way). The rest of the site has at most a 2-3 second page load like you say. Just Game Explorer is really slow.

Anyone else want to comment on why this might be?

Another problem with game explorer is I can't right click the move options on the right hand side and open that line in another window. This makes it double slow as when I am following a line, I have to go back to the place where I have a choice to follow another line before going forward again on the different line. If you could right click on the options on the right hand side and open in another window you could campare the differences in % win/loss on 2 different tabs and also compare the different lines for a few more moves. At the moment on the new tab I have to start over from the beginning to get to the place where the crucial lines diverge.

Ahhhh.....

I agreed with you on this one Greg. I find it incredibile slow. Earlier this year no problem maybe they (chess.com) did something to it during one of their fixed and update.

Hi Greg, just to let you know I've notice now that the game explorer is getting a little more quicker to load up now.
