why is so bad to smoke for a chess player?

It's a choice folks.  People know the hazards these days so it's up to them, though I'd discourage young people from starting as it's very addictive.  One of the reasons smoking is so addictive is because the producers make it that way, it's good for business y'see.

A bit like junk food full of sugar, salt and other dodgy additives, but McDonalds and others in the that line of business do very well from encouraging children to consume the junk.

I'm always amazed that the producers of cigarettes are allowed to add so many poisons to their product, but then they have many politicians who lobby on their behalf, and of course the product brings in a fortune in taxes.

Yes, Ammonia is added for the same reason cocaine is mixed with baking soda to make it stronger when smoked. By adding Ammonia, you are essentially FREE-BASING nicotine (The lowered Ph results in formation of an otherwise unstable charged "free base" that passes into the blood stream much faster).

I find Americans judgement towards smoking to be the worst. After a few games on chess.com I always say "I'm going for a smoke now." And it's only Americans who ever start the 'smoking is bad for your health speech'.

Not just chess players. It is now an offence, in the U.K., to smoke in a car that is carrying people under 18 years of age.

Tobacco is  both adictive and harmful. Whenever I see anybody walking around with a cigarette in his mouth I always say to myself, "There goes a fool, he is costing taxpayers money because we have to pay his doctor bills with medicare and medicaide. I hope he catches lung cancer, or heart disease or high blood pressure, or stroke and dies."

I don't know about in your country, but in mine smokers' pay 4 times as much as their operations cost, through very high taxes on a lifetime of cigarettes.

Nicoteine is a drug that enhances your mental ability.  But cigarettes come with carbon monoxide.  This impares the oxygen carrying capacity of your blood.

Why is it so bad for a average non-chess players to smoke?,it is extremely bad an everyone smoking should stop, that will never happen, like coffee will never stop being served, its a bad and life taking addiction,do,not advise for anyone.

universityofpawns

Yea...I work with elderly patients as a physical therapist...and day after day...week after week....month afer month.....100s and 100s of patients. And EVERY and I mean EVERY coworker of mine will point out the lifetime smokers.....they are the ones on 2-5 Lit/min of O2 and have difficulty walking from their room to the gym without gasping for breath. Personally...if someone would have got on my dads case...a 3 pack a day smoker since WWII...and died horribly by drowning in his own fluid filled lungs late stage Emphysema...he might have lived long enough to meet my future wife. So yea! Ill scream the evils of cigarettes on top of roop tops if it will save just one life!

Smoking is fine at a tournament but only if they have some kinda "Get Smart" type ventilation bubble to drop down over the smoker's head.

I understand it's very hard to stop smoking, and I have lots of sympathy for the people who are trying to quit, and for people who got into it before the medical facts became widely known. What really makes me shake my head are the people who are just starting to create their addiction. Someone has to try really hard to smoke, their body will get sick and they will want to throw up, but they persist through the bad taste, the vomiting and sickness. What is their reward? Less physical ability, increased risk of strokes, increased risk of cancer, loss of money, aging really hard, etc. I saw a friend of mine start to smoke and I asked him why he'd want to start doing something that would hurt his quality of life so much. His response was "idk man". His choice, I didn't butt into his business again, but I feel bad for him.

cigarettes provide initially a light headed rush , this is why new to the habit put up with the negative aspects

the print is small on tobacco or cigarette packaging but the various ingredients that are inhaled into the body are listed

today is a day like many others for me cigarette in hand coffee in cup here at cc

so i wont post those ingredients , its a nice day , if you care to look though please be prepared to be shocked

Barry_Helafonte2

Smoking can help one player to focus while making the opponent suffer at the same time.
